The Art and Origin of ‘@’

I love this article (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/22/arts/design/22iht-design22.html?ref=design) regarding the symbol @’s recent induction into the museum of modern art’s architecture and design collection.  To me, it nods to the importance of form as well as function within design, specifically, and in all aesthetic, generally.  The practical history of the symbol is explored by Rawsthorn, an etymology, so to speak.  What I particularly enjoy is the article’s ability to shine light on the symbol’s cutural impact and virtually non-metamorphic nature.  “@” is to design what the cockroach is to evolutionism: a perfect specimen.
